Radical Mappers
These are the people working on this project.
minnesota-born and raised!
i enjoy making things, growing and eating food, thinking about stories and place, and playing outside. my mom says that i'm nesting.
I love maps, art, food, and standing out in the cold for hours at a time:) My life outside of building mapping shanties includes playing music, reading, and drinking tea.
Claudia is an artistic person with geographical and educational inclinations. She came to be involved in the Map Shanty Project through EXCO, an organization she extols the virtues of whenever possible. In her free time when she's not looking at maps or building shanties, she keeps in touch with her family in California, cooks delicious vegetarian food, and reads short stories.
- From York, Pennsylvania via Los Angeles, CA via Northeast Mpls.
- Grad student/worker at the U of M.
- Experimental College organizer.
- Facilitator of the Disorientation Guide exco class.
despite living in the Midwest my whole life, I'm perpetually cold in winter ... number one goal for the shanty design: make it warm(ish)!
number-cruncher, archivist, organizer, photographer - soon to be ice-house mapper.
I'm looking forward to a winter hobby!
I am lesley, one of the co-facilitators on this year's Art Shanty Project. I am looking forward to spending the next couple months on the rooftop of a lake with you.
I live at Fort Awesome with Keyboard Masher. By day I teach. By night I plot how to wear Smart Wool to stay warm in our Map Shanty.
I am a web developer by day and well, a web developer by night, truth be told. A lot of work I do involves web-based mapping and I have an uncanny sense of direction. While not in front of a screen, I try my best to bike around this fair city and experience the amazing world around me.
Having always been an appreciator and advocate for the arts, I have gone to the Art Shanties every year that I have lived here. I have always wanted to be a part of an Art Shanty, and so I jumped on the opportunity to help the Radical Mapping Art Shanty. I am privileged and honored to work with some great minds on this project and expect to have a lot of fun.
